My strength/skills/superpower: Dedication, hard work and enthusiasm. As my former boss said: ‘Olga makes things happen’, I believe this sums up my superpower. I can identify the problem, scrutinise data, analyse customer behaviour and other factors, to formulate the most effective solution.
How do your strength play into the work you do? I am incredibly competitive; I enjoy the thrill of working in the challenging and ever-changing fast paced hospitality market. To succeed you need to be on top of your game. Taking on challenges, identifying new revenue opportunities, dealing with complex problems, formulating solutions and, most importantly, seeing positive results, this is what I enjoy the most.
Imagine your best hospitality / hotel experience – what does it look like? It would be a in a boutique hotel where employees love what they do and feel empowered to make decisions. It is a luxurious stylish place but not pretentious. The service is sleek and engaging, the staff are intuitively one step ahead by predicting needs and desires. With a few little surprises and personal touches, like a hand-written welcome card or carefully thought through welcome gift. This place is constantly evolving, ensuring that it is current and somewhere where customers want to return time and time again.
What brings you the greatest joy at work? Smashing my targets! It is the competitive side of me. Getting others excited about revenue management as much as I am. The success of a hotel depends on everyone; it is a team effort.
One of my biggest passions is passing my knowledge and experience to others. I have been actively involved in coaching and mentoring new talent entering the hospitality industry, especially in the revenue field. I have been fortunate with role models in my professional life, so I want to help others build their career.
My advice for women in hospitality and travel-tech: Do not be afraid to speak up. Be professional, make sure your knowledge speaks for you. Be true to yourself, remain curious, have a mentor, do not be afraid to put your name out there, however, do not do it at the cost of others. The success of every woman should be the inspiration to others.
You are BRAVER than you believe, STRONGER than you seem, SMARTER than you think.
